Wester Alves - connection issues
Updates
Our new higher-capacity link feeding Wester Alves has now been installed and we can confirm that it is performing well.
Works to upgrade the Wester Alves core link yesterday were not fully completed due to time constraints. Today we will complete the Wester Alves end of the upgrade which means there will be a brief outage between 12-1pm. This outage should last no longer than 5 minutes all going well but please be aware that if any issues occur we may have a slightly longer downtime.
Once completed we should no longer see bottleneck issues at peak times which will have been affecting customer speeds.
This outage will affect all customers around Kinloss, Roseisle and Alves
We have recently been investigating a number of issues from customers connected to our Wester Alves mast relating to slow speeds and intermittent connections. We have now traced this to a fault with the main link that feeds this mast.
This link is already scheduled to be upgraded to newer equipment due to the increasing customer base in the area, however we were unable to complete the upgrade previously due to the snow at our main mast site. Now that this has cleared, we will be completing the upgrade on Saturday 27th February.
This has been a tricky fault to isolate but we are confident that the upgrade work will resolve it and customers can return to normal speeds and stability.
